Haddaway is a Trinidadian-German musician and singer who released three international number one hits, “What is love”, “Life” and “Fly away”. His single “What is love” sold 900,000 copies in the UK and later reached number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100. By the beginning of 1994, worldwide sales of “What Is Love” had already reached 2.6 million. The song set the background for the famous “Saturday Night Live” skit “The Roxbury Guys” with Jim Carrey. He received the Bronze Bravo Otto Award in 1993 in the category “Rap & Dancefloor”, the Echo in 1994 for “Best National Dance Single” and “Most Successful National Song”, the Golden Europa Award in 1993 and the RSH-Gold in 1994 for “Best German Production.”
