Chester Williams was a South African rugby union player, best known as the star winger of the South Africa national Springbok team that won the 1995 Rugby World Cup and was nicknamed “The Black Pearl”, scoring 4 tries in the quarter final. He played as a winger for the Springboks from 1993 to 2000. He was featured in the film Invictus, which is about the 1995 Rugby World Cup and how it helped South Africa heal after years of apartheid. Chester is credited as one of the film’s Rugby Coaches and was portrayed by McNeil Hendricks.

For the Springboks he made his first appearance at the age of 23 in Buenos Aires, a game that the Springboks went on to win 52–23 and in which he also scored a try. In total Chester played 27 games for the Springboks, scoring 14 tries. His honors included a Currie Cup win in 1999 with the Golden Lions. In 2001 Chester became the coach of the South African sevens team that won bronze at the 2002 Commonwealth Games and were runners up in the World Sevens Series. Chester was the head coach for the University of the Western Cape, which won the 2017 Varsity Shield competition under his coaching. At the 2004 Olympics he was invited to carry the Olympic torch on its way to Athens. Chester lived with his family in Cape Town South Africa.
