Ampie Du Preez is a South African singer and songwriter of multiple Number One hits such as “Plain Jane” and “Speel Weer Met My Hart”. No stranger to success, impressive sell-out shows and CD sales, Ampie’s been hard at work, fine-tuning and tapping into Afrikaans pop culture ever since 1999, when he released his first collection of songs with his band Definitely Maybe. kykNET viewers got to enjoy Ampie first when he rocked the channel’s duo song competition Zing. Next up was the massively successful collaboration with Hanno van Heerden and ‘n Man Soos Jan, launched out of Pretoria. It went straight up the charts and into their fans’ hearts across the country. Their biggest success was the theme song to the massively popular kykNET show Glitterati. Most of his greatest hits come from a multitude of duets, written for and performed alongside the likes of Bok van Blerk and Eden’s Sean Else, amongst others. Another audio adventure saw him hook up with long-time friend and Protea’s cricket player A.B. De Villiers with the release of “Maak Jou Drome Waar”.
