Dianne Kohler Barnard is a South African politician and journalist. She is a Member of Parliament for the Democratic Alliance (DA), the second largest party in the country’s Government of National Unity.

In parliament, Dianne held the pisitions of Shadow Minister of Police, Shadow Minister of Health and Shadow Minister of Arts and Culture. Before entering politics, she spent 23 years working as a radio and print journalist, running the KwaZulu-Natal offices of SAfm, also presenting and producing the news programme “The Editors,” chairing the Broadcast, Electronic Media and Allied Workers’ Union in KwaZulu-Natal, and co-founding the SABC HIV/Aids Committee.

Her decision to enter politics came in response to increasing state interference in the management of the SABC, joining the DA in 2004. Dianne resides in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
